PERFORMANCE
Defender

There has been an awakening—it’s your engine and it’s ready to put in the work. Regardless of whether you go with the Defender or the Jeep, you’ll be treated to incredible power.

Can You Feel It?

When it comes to choosing your vehicle, it’s important to take a look under the hood. While both models offer multiple engine options, the Defender has a decisive advantage in terms of total horsepower and torque.

The standard powertrain of the Defender is the 3.0L MHEV engine that produces up to 296 horsepower, while the Wrangler’s standard 3.6L engine only produces 285 horsepower.

Feel the Power Beneath Your Feet

At its mightiest, the Defender will produce 518 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque with its 5.0L engine. This powertrain also allows for the Defender to tow up to 7,716 pounds when properly equipped.

The Jeep Wrangler can’t come anywhere close to those numbers. In fact, it’s only capable of producing a maximum of 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, along with a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.

SAFETY
Defender

With off-roading adventures and commutes to work, school, and more, safety is an important factor to consider when deciding between two models. With modern-day technology, both the Defender and the Wrangler have impressive safety features.

Safety Technology That’s Always on the Lookout

Whenever the unexpected happens, the Defender and the Jeep have your back with many different safety technologies that can help keep you safe, some of which include:

  • Blind Spot Assist
  • Cruise Control
  • Lane Keep Assist
What Comes Standard?

The big difference in safety is that the above features and others like a 3D Surround Camera and Traffic Sign Recognition all come standard in the Defender.

Jeep Wrangler drivers would have to upgrade to get most, if not all, of these features.

INTERIOR
Defender

A quick ride around the block or a cross-country road trip would feel so much better with comfortable seats and technology that puts your mind at ease.

The Defender Keeps You Comfortable

The Defender and the Jeep were built with comfort in mind, but the Defender has the edge here in a variety of ways.

The front-row seats of the Defender can be adjusted in 12 different ways and a heating feature comes standard. The Wrangler, on the other hand, has 6-way adjustable front seats and heating is unavailable on the base trim.

Customize Your Cabin Temperature

Another huge advantage of the Defender is that it can fit up to seven people. The Wrangler can only seat five people. The Defender also includes a standard 3-zone climate control, so there are more opportunities for passengers to enjoy their preferred temperature settings.

The Wrangler also offers an automatic temperature control feature, but you’d have to upgrade to a higher trim level to get it.
